UKAPISUA: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW (NAIJA EVERYDAY)

UKAPISUA: ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW

With the recent success in the Usoro Uso – an exhibition of Art and Orange September – a series of events organized to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Akwa Ibom by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has launched yet another event tagged Ukapisua. Ukap’isua, means “the turn of the year” or “the end of the year”.

WHY UKAPISUA

The Commissioner For Culture and Tourism, Rt Hon Victor Antai explained during a press briefing why the state needs “Ukapisua” event.

“As we all know, yuletide periods in Akwa Ibom State have hitherto been bereft of hyped activities. During this period we usually witness an outflow of human traffic into neighboring states as indigenes and fun seekers leave the state in their numbers to other parts of the country in search of entertainment and recreation.

It is in an attempt to remedy this and spice up the yuletide experience for the citizens of Akwa Ibom State, while effectively marketing our huge tourist potentials that the Ministry Of Culture and Tourism has decided to host “Ukap’isua”, an end of the year Christmas festival.

. Historically, our people planned and host festivities around this period. We hope to create during this same period, a unique experience that will not only create recreation and entertainment, but also market our huge tourism potentials.”

EVENTS LINED UP FOR UKAPISUA

The Commissioner explains the event lined up for the Xmas season “Ukap’isua will commence with the opening of the festival village, located at the auspicious Ibom Unity Park, Udoudoma Avenue, Uyo. The festival village will host relaxation spots, shopping stalls and other recreational facilities. The main events in Ukap’isua will hold on 26th and 27th December, 2017

On 26th December, we will host a major street party/carnival tagged “Street Groove”. The star studded event will see five Bands parading along the carnival routes (University of Uyo mini stadium – Ikot ekpene road – Aka road – UdoUdoma Avenue – Unity Park). The bands will be led by an indigene. Each will be assigned an artist of repute. Talks with the likes of Wizkid, Tuface Idibia, Tiwa Savage, Tekno, Phyno etc are ongoing.”

WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE ENGAGED
There are bands which will move across the breath and length of the state capital with top musical stars leading the band. Below are the bands:

*Blue River Band,
*Rolling Hills Band,
*The Beach Town Band,
*The Bridge Band and
*The Plaza Band.

THE SECRETS BEHIND THE BAND NAME

According to Rt. Hon Antai
“The bands are named after tourist attractions and historical features in Akwa Ibom state. The bands will further expound on the significance of their respective tourism features in their costumes, presentation and parade, thereby helping to market the tourist potentials of the state.”

HOW TO BE PART OF THE BAND

The general public is encouraged to be part of the bands by registering online at www.ukapisua.com or by picking up offline registration forms at all tertiary institutions in the state, local government headquarters, as well as designated eateries and the state Ministry of Culture and Tourism Headquarters, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex, Uyo.

ABOUT THE IBENO BEACH PARTY

The end of the road event for Ukap’isua this year will be the Mega Beach Fiesta. Holding at the longest beach line in West Africa, the mega beach fiesta will feature beach soccer, volleyball, basketball and other interesting games.

The event will be rounding off with grand five star performances.

We Supply Products To You Despite N26.7 Billion Debt – NNPC Replies Marketers

We Supply Products To You Despite N26.7 Billion Debt – NNPC Replies Marketers

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has described as very unfortunate a statement credited to the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association (DAPPMA) on the fuel supply situation, especially Premium Motor Spirit (petrol).

NNPC wishes to affirm that it has supplied appreciable volume to DAPPMA, Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) and Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to rid the challenges currently being experienced in the supply and distribution of petroleum products in the country.

NNPC regrets that DAPPMA which members had taken receipts of products from Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of NNPC and owe the company to the tune of N26.7billion as at December 21, 2017, has the audacity to indict NNPC unjustifiably.

The statement by DAPPMA that the current hiccups in the supply of products was due to the inability of the Direct Sale Direct Purchase (DSDP) partners of NNPC to deliver on their business obligations is unfounded and self-indicting as many of DAPPMA members patronize the same DSDP international counterparts as the corporation.

Despite the concession by the government giving access to DAPPMA to obtain FOREX at an official rate of N305 per dollar for PMS import, their members have not been able to do so, leaving NNPC as the sole supplier of PMS to the Nigerian market.

NNPC assures the public that despite the increase it effected in the supply of PMS in the December 2017, it has nonetheless, programmed to supply 1.2billion litres of the white products in January 2018, translating to about 40million litres of PMS supply per day. Ordinarily, Nigeria consumes about 700 trucks (about 27million – 30million) litres per day.

Despite the current challenges, Nigerians are reassured that there is no plan to increase PMS pump price above N145/litre and that NNPC will continue to maintain ex–depot price of N133.28/litre which guarantees the pump price not exceeding the N145 per litre capped by the government.

All stakeholders are implored to support the efforts of government to bring a speedy end to the current fuel distribution challenges being experienced in parts of the country as this is not the time to play the blame game.

Burna Boy Might Not Appear In Court On Scheduled Date | See Why

Burna Boy has been on the radar of the police since the investigation on the robbery attack suffered by Mr 2kay, linked Burna Boy to the case. The singer is accused of sponsoring the attack to “teach him (Mr 2kay) a lesson.”

Burna Boy initially did not report to the police after receiving invitation that he should report to the station for questioning. However, the singer reported to the station on Friday, December 15, 2017 and he has since been detained. It was reported that the singer was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, December 18, 2017. The most recent report however has it that the singer’s scheduled appearance in court, might be postponed.
A police source told Punch NG that the singer was still making statements to detectives. The source said, “He is currently in the SARS custody and he is helping the police in the investigation. .
For now, I can’t say categorically what his charges will be but definitely they are related to robbery for which the other suspects were arraigned.”
Another police officer, who is privy to the case, said Burna Boy’s arraignment might not come up on Monday as planned, noting that investigators wanted to present watertight charges against him before the court. .
The officer said, “His statements are still being taken and there are more revelations. We don’t want to rush to court with charges that will be struck out for lack of evidence. The essence of prosecution is to secure a conviction at the end of the day. That is what we want to ensure.”

“I’ll Be Bigger Than Wizkid & Bob Marley” – Sugarboy

During an interview with Showtime, Sugarboy expressed his confidence in becoming a bigger artiste than Wizkid and Bob Marley. The G-Worldwide signee went on to boast about having what it takes to become the biggest artiste in the world.

“It’s been a great year for me; particularly because it’s the year I dropped my album and it’s the year I really got to be known. I’m grateful to my label for that; it’s hard work and with God’s help I’ll become the biggest music artiste in the world; not big like Wizkid but big like the late Bob Marley by God’s grace”, he said.
Speaking further, he bragged of how big he has become in less than three years of breaking into limelight.
“The Sugarboy brand has been growing since 2015; I was unknown before 2014 but since 2015 it’s been a growing brand, it’s not an overnight thing. Sugarboy is a force to be reckoned with; I’m the future, the same way they saw Wizkid back in the day when Banky W asked people to watch out for him, that’s who I am right now, by God’s grace I’ll be a music mogul in years to come.”

2 Reasons Olamide Will Never Be On The Same Level As Wizkid And Davido

2017 saw Davido and Wizkid not only doing a tremendous job in their careers, they did a beautiful job in exporting the Nigerian sound.
So let’s start this way, if you were asked to mention top 3 artistes in Nigeria today, am certain Olamide’s name will find a way to sneak in there right, right???
Okay, now, for every person working in one field or the other, let’s take the entertainment industry, for instance, their goal or as they claim is export the sound abroad and make themselves known to other acts around the globe particularly the US.
I already know some people are set to compose curses aimed at me…calm down…am not done, you will get your chance.
Davido, Wizkid have both done fantastic jobs doing just the above, getting their names out there [in the abroad] and ensuring the big dogs there, get a taste of our tasteful sound.
Now for Wizkid, he did this; create the Afro-Caribbean medley enabling the likes of Drake, Jidenna amongst others take a dip into this ever filling ocean and creating even more delicious sound with it.
Davido, on his end made sure several top foreign ears take a listen to the sound, he did that so well, OG in the game R-Kelly walked the path of a remix to his song.
Now Olamide, what excactly is holding this Nigerian big dog from exporting our sound or even making a name for himself outside the shores of the land, you ask him, he will probably say this; I represent the street, the street is where I belong, I make music for the people,’ but WO, isn’t Wikzid and Davido doing just about this and still ensuring the African sound is being exported? What exactly is stopping you from let’s even agree you are the king of the street, taking that street sound you are so certain you own down there and making them take a listen, work with you and bring even more awareness to your brand and the same street you are fighting tooth and nail to entertain, my answer;

LAZINESS

let’s face it, Olamide is lazy. Yeah, awon omo wobe are getting ready to look for Tope Delano and attack yeah, still hold your unintentionally ripped jean and sweaty discolored shirt by the only thread it has and let me finish. Ya man is lazy! He knows just about how much work it takes to get the above done and would rather remain in his already falling about comfort zone as he knows the street will remain the street, the intellectually challenged zone, hard-drugs and objectification of a woman’s body does the trick. Okay, you have to do both to make music, how about doing it in ways where when the learned ones who enjoy WOBE sounds listen [as if these people can understand am certain the foreigners can] they won’t start trembling and taking a dash a psychologist to determine their true state of mind, how about that sir?

FEAR

This one actually baffles me as this is the same man that has single handlely done wonders for the career of many who swam in the river of uncertainty of this aggressive industry. However, I can understand as this could cause a big challenge when you have to go to a much more learned setting to ply your trade. Olamide is simply scared of the unknown. Scared that the foreigners will reject his sound and this may take a swing at his emotions, but again isn’t that what life is about, picking yourself up when it deals you a huge blow? This is a man who has quite a number of young ones looking up to him, same ones who if given just a minute chance to get their sound heard abroad, they would grab it. So, I ask, what exactly are you teaching them? You have all it takes, what exactly is stopping you, if fear isn’t one of it?
I know some of you will come on here saying; as long as he is making money, repping the street blah to the effing bla…it’s cool, but ask yourselves, if you get a chance to be better, to show the world just how amazing the WOBE sound CAN and should be with just the right lyrics or even the codeine-based, illegal money making ventures and  body shaming/ objectification ones, done with the right words is, will you not go for it?
Got thoughts about these reasons, drop your comments below.

Upcoming Artistes:- 6 Tips To Follow If You Want To Become An A’List Artist In Nigeria(NaijaEveryday)

Upcoming Artistes:- 6 Tips To Follow If You Want To Become An A’List Artist In Nigeria
We are so concerned about the upcoming artistes, we know how much you wanna make it big in the music industry, we know what most of you pass through while hustling to make it big in the music industry, so I compiled this article, to help you know the essentialities of making it to an A’ List artiste level.
Read up…
Let us not pretend as if we don’t know hardship inspires music, most people walk to the studio to create junk for us, and tag it “my latest single”.
Music they say is the food of the soul, but nothing leads faster to depression than bad music.
Just because you want to escape the hardship in the country, you then save a little studio money, to once again add to the list of wacked songs out there. My brother “There is God oh”
If you are reading this, and deep within you know studio session money is almost complete, so you can once again add to the tremendous list of wacked songs we are suffering from in this country, biko!! I beg you standing on Amadioha’s left foot, don’t do this to us, don’t release that song, just use the money and eat enough ‘nkwuobi’ and it will do you well.
Wait! Is making it in the Nigerian music industry that hard? Funny enough it’s not, if not, there won’t be room for a Davido, Olamide, Kcee and some of our A’ List artist.
I will be sharing these tips on how to make hit songs in Nigeria with you all, as friends, because believe me, there are little things that we observe but choses to ignore. Here they come people.
1. Nigerians Love A Good Beat
While a song consist of various compartment, from the verses to the chorus, hook and the rest bla bla bla, one can’t overlook the impact, a good beat has on a song.
Please, what did Ycee say in ‘Omo Alhaji’? virtually nothing, he was just repeating the same thing over and over again. And guess what, the song was a hit, not just any hit, a MEGA HIT!
A hit that shot YCEE straight to being an A’ list artist. Are we still in doubt of the amazing prowlers of an amazing beat? Was it not in that same ‘Omo Alhaji’ beats that Jesse Jagz did an awesome rap freestyle and once again, the freestyle became a massive hit amassing hundredth of thousands downloads.
2. Have A Signature Word
Most of our A’ list artist can’t deliver a song without including their signature lines, so I guess you should join them. Please and please don’t ask me why oh….. Just believe that if it is working for them it will work for you.
Popular among them are:- Leggo is for Timaya, ‘Yes oh’ ‘nothing day happen’ for 2Baba, kokolet, ‘koko master’ for D’banj, ‘Whaysayy’ for Patoranking… See eh, I can go on and on, there are too many and I am pretty sure you know them all.
So chose your own, even if it’s ‘Agama lizard’, you want to adopt as your signature line, just stay true to it, and make sure you constantly say it in your song till even you yourself is tired of saying it.
3. Please Don’t Forget To Rhyme
Honestly, is there any hit song in Naija without a strong presence of a rhyme pattern? Just think of a hit song, and automatically the rhyme pattern comes to you. Watch out peeps for the next A’ list artist that will join the fold, the YBNL first lady Temmie, wow!! She totally understands, the rhymes impact on potential hit songs, and she filled her first single with so many of them. Chai, Temmie, even if rhymes is maggi, ‘your own too much naw’
4. Feature An A’List Artist
Now this is like the most important of them all, you can follow all the above tips, and still not make it as an A’ List artist. Why? It’s simple, your name is relatively unknown, and nobody waste their precious MB on an unknown artist.
Now imagine, the ‘Osinachi’ song without Phyno on it, there is a strong tendency that despite how good that song is, it would not have gained the necessary publicity. But Humblesmith I guess knew already of this rule, and he saved more money to add a known name to the song, and boom!! We have a hit in ‘osinachi’ and then the remix with Davido skyrockets him into the heart of almost all Nigerians.
5. Relax, Don’t Be Too Serious
We know you want to be a star so badly, we know that somehow, you are now seeing music as an escape from your predicament. But please and please don’t be too serious when you are in the studio.
Relax, a hit does not come in direct proportion to your seriousness, go and ask Terry G, Timaya, Davido, Wizkid damn it!!, why pick names. Go and ask them all, all those that have made hit song, and they will confirm this my little secret.
Relax my dear and do your thing. If a song like “Oga Don Jazzy, when you go marry” can become popular, who says you can’t make your own hit song.
6. Good Promotion & Publicity For Your Song
Some Artistes can’t blow.. Believe me!!! Imagine, You saved up so much money so that Don Jazzy or Young John can produced your Song, after achieving that, you can’t even save up to get your Music to the World using Blogs and Radio.
My Brother, you go waste money tire, keep hiding those songs that can change your Life on your phone and be sharing it with bluetooth when NaijaEveryday and WorldTalkative can share to over 500 Nigerians all over the world within 2 weeks.
Don’t be stingy, help your career.
And finally, Here is a Disclaimer, If you finally follows all of the above tips, yet ‘e no work’ or ‘you no blow’, my brother, go to the village and beg them, ‘their juju strong pass my tips’.
Enjoy!!!

A MUST READ- A 014 Stake Secretary from Microbiology, a great comrade in faculty of science isShot dead.

UNIUYO student shot dead while watching UEFA league matches
Suspected hoodlums on Tuesday night stormed a popular viewing centre, Kaneworld Resort in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, and shot dead a final year student of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) while watching the UEFA Champions League matches.
Our correspondent gathered that a three-man gang, stormed the viewing centre located at 17, Idak Okpo lane, few minutes to the end of the matches involving Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich and shot the victim.
The heavily armed gunmen reportedly ordered viewers to lie face down while they searched for their target.

“When they (the criminals) ordered everyone to lie down, the deceased struggled with his Infinix phone and was shot at close range, Effiong Akpan, a Manchester United fan told our correspondent.

According to him, the deceased, Dominic Ubiat, a final year Microbiology student from Ibiono Ibom local government area of the state was shot on his groin at close range.

“He ran with patches of blood from the viewing centre and was chased by the hoodlums to his house located about 500 metres and died before help could reach him,” another fan added.

The Nation gathered that youths from the area arrived a little too late to take him to the hospital where medics confirmed he died from excessive loss of blood.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ubiat, who visited the scene of the incident on Wednesday, lamented that all the years of their son in the university was in vain and vowed to go the extra mile to avenge his death.

“Look at the blood of my son,” Mr. Ubiat lamented, vowing that “the blood of my son shall haunt those behind this dastardly act of cowardice.”

The deceased’s mother, accompanied by other family members and school mates, wondered why her son could be left to die after being shot.

“From every indication here, help did not come early enough, otherwise my son would have survived if he had been rushed to the hospital at the right time,” she lamented.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Elkana Bala, described the incident as “a pure robbery attack.”

The Top 10 Digital Platforms to Upload, Share, and Promote Your Music

The internet has forever changed the landscape of the music industry. This is common knowledge to artists who've utilized effective digital technologies such as file sharing and digital marketing via an endless number of social media channels. While all of this may seem like painfully obvious information, the fact remains that many musicians still struggle with choosing the right online platforms to upload, share, and promote their music.
The neverending list of offerings can be overwhelming, but it is essential to have a clear-cut understanding of how to tackle these three questions:
  1. Which communities are the most popular amongst your target audience?
  2. Why are they powerful (i.e., what are their capabilities)?
  3. What are the appropriate circumstances for you to put them into action?
With these inquiries in mind, I've created a list of the top 10 digital music platforms that artists need to know like the back of their hands (or instruments, for that matter). If you become a master at navigating all of the below selections, the likelihood of your music reaching a substantial audience skyrockets and, more importantly, so does your chances of developing a dedicated fanbase.

1. SoundCloud

Founded in 2007, SoundCloud remains as one of the world's top audio distribution platforms and attracts over 175 million monthly unique visitors. From a free-streaming perspective, SoundCloud has been a longstanding giant, and that won't change anytime soon. Heralded for its sociability/shareability features, a wide majority of both established major artists and rising talent turn to SoundCloud to upload their music.
The "news feed" style of the homepage, repost/favorite/playlist options, and followers/group communities play a huge part in expanding the reach of SoundCloud's massive library. So while there are plenty of folks who take advantage of the system in attempts of growing a large (but mostly imaginary) following, SoundCloud is a go-to option in giving fans the opportunity to stream your latest single for free.
[8 Simple Steps to Maximize Your SoundCloud Exposure]

2. Audiomack

Not too far behind SoundCloud, Audiomack is on the rise as a fan-friendly streaming platform. Unlike its counterpart, which has a central focus on play counts when evaluating engagement, Audiomack allows artists to measure the reach of their music with its variety of trend-based rankings. The exact number of plays per day/week/month are readily available, and the "what's trending" homepage makes it easy for music consumers to know what songs and albums are worthy of their valuable time. Between the less stringent copyright policies and easy-to-digest analytics, Audiomack is a well-positioned platform and a wise choice for independent artists who want full visibility into the marketing efforts of their new album.

3. iTunes

Anybody who has listened to music this century is aware of the monster that is iTunes. If you're a member of the select group of consumers who truly believe in financially supporting the work of their favorite artists, iTunes is your music mecca. The platform continues to evolve with Apple constantly innovating as a technological giant (see Apple Music), and although streaming is the current king of music intake, music libraries of longtime iTunes users are still seeing plenty of action.
If you're an independent musician who wants to provide fans with the option of buying their music, uploading to iTunes is still the primary method of doing so. Don't expect to strike gold, but the brand name recognition alone is enough to win some fans over.

4. Spotify

Over the past several years, Spotify has worked its way into becoming an extremely powerful digital music service and is a king in the music streaming business. The massive library of music from major artists has made Spotify an attractive option, and while free users are burdened with frequent advertisements, premium users enjoy ad-free as well as offline/mobile app listening.
Despite the number of nice features offered by Spotify, I don't believe the platform is currently a necessity for independent musicians. Sure, you may look official by having your well-received album uploaded, but from a streaming point of view, you're better going off with SoundCloud or Audiomack as an up-and-comer. By doing so, you ultimately provide fans with easier access to your music and save yourself a few headaches at the same time.
[6 Easy Steps to Streaming Success on Spotify]

5. YouTube

If you're a rising artist, you should be putting quality time and effort into the creation of professionally crafted music videos. And when it comes time to share your visuals with the world, you upload them on YouTube. The video-sharing home of the internet has made a huge difference for indie artists who sometimes rise to national acclaim not necessarily on the strength of a song, but on the visuals which breathe new life into the record. Between its ease of use and insightful measurement tools, YouTube is a primary platform that garners undivided attention from the more professionally minded segment of rising artists.
[25 Ways to Optimize Your YouTube Channel]

6. Bandcamp

Bandcamp is perhaps the most interesting selection from this list of music platforms. The website is certainly geared toward independent musicians, but it tends to attract more of a niche following of both artists and fans. As a platform that promotes free streaming as well as financial support of the artist, Bandcamp has an all-in-one capability which can prove to be useful for musicians who want to put all of their eggs in one basket. There are plenty of successful artists who have effectively promoted their material on Bandcamp, but be wary, because if your music doesn't resonate with a particular demographic, it can get lost in the mix.
[How to Make Your Bandcamp Page as Effective as Possible]

7. Vimeo

We've already established that YouTube is the major player in the world of music videos. Vimeo, however, is a runner-up and has its own specialties for artists who shoot a variety of visual content. When musicians take a more diversified route with videos, such as documentaries and behind-the-scenes footage, it's not a bad idea to experiment with Vimeo due to its well-versed creative community. By no means is it smart to transfer all of your videos from your YouTube account to Vimeo, but don't be afraid to try it out as you continue to grow your fanbase.

8. Tidal

While still young in its existence, Tidal has been making headlines in the world of music streaming over the past several months. The platform prides itself on offering high-quality audio/video for its users, and with a large group of superstar artists co-signing the services, many fans are jumping on the wave. While many in the industry feel that Tidal is merely a self-centered attempt for major label artists to receive better profit margins on their streams, indie artists should still follow every move from Tidal as it continues to grow (especially Tidal Rising and Tidal Discovery). Don't make Tidal your top priority right now, but give the platform some time before deciding whether to test the waters with the service.

9. Google Play

Even though Google Play receives less attention, it's not wise to ignore the music service of one of the world's most powerful companies. If you want your entire fanbase to have the ability to financially support your music, it's important to ensure that you have a presence on Google Play. There are plenty of Android mobile phone users who rely on Google Play as opposed to iTunes, so if you want all your tracks covered, don't leave them out of the mix.

10. Personal website

Despite all of these qualified music platforms, all serious musicians need a personal website that prominently displays their latest and greatest music. You'll most likely be using one of the aforementioned selections to upload your tracks, but having your music on each of these nine platforms and not on your own website is a recipe for disaster. As a rising artist, it's smart to have your music centralized in a few prominent places as opposed to throwing a dozen different links at fans and press. And out of all these options, maintaining a sharp, up-to-date website is perhaps the most vital. When you start to draw bigger and more influential figures to your catalog, rest assured that your website will be one of their first visits.

4 Things Absolutely No Musician Should Ever Waste Time Doing

As a musician, there are plenty of things you can do to further your career. But do you know which things you shouldn't waste time on, since they end up being futile? They might seem like good ideas on paper, and well, they might be on some level. But if they don't really benefit your endgame when you're trying to build from the ground up, and if they aren't doing much to advance your career, then don't waste the minutes or the energy. Time is finite, so you have to use it wisely and make sure that every second parsed out for a promotional push is effective.

1. Care what people outside of your target audience think

You need to cater to your fans and your scene. Wasting too much time worrying about what other demographics or fans of other genres think isn't productive. Don't spend time trying to convince those who don't like your music to like your music. Don't try to foist it or force it on 'em. That only annoys people and creates an atmosphere of resentment. Foster the fans that already exist and build on that base, and forget the rest. You don't want to get lost in the ether of trying to serve an audience that doesn't care.

2. Play a free show that doesn't benefit your career in a "big picture" way

Playing a show for free that is sponsored by a major editorial, radio, press, or instrument partner can open up doors of exposure and support, be it in print, on air, financially, or otherwise. Playing a gratis show for a charity or good cause is also beyond fine, wise, smart, and acceptable. Those are things you should do to build your reputation, for good karma, and because helping others is always rad.
But playing a free show just 'cuz is useless. A free show needs to be a resume builder. If it's sponsored by Facebook, Decibel, Converse, or whatever, then do it. The benefits and "bigger picture" nature make it worth foregoing a fee. If there is no bigger picture goal serviced by the free show, though, then you have to move right along. Freebies aren't copious.

3. Copy-and-paste dozens of impersonal pitches

Sending out a bunch of non-personal queries or SoundCloud links to music industry folks, like writers or label reps, or to potential fans on Facebook, is the digital age equivalent of standing outside of a show and giving someone a burned CD in a plastic sandwich bag. If these people don't know you and you don't know them, they likely won't reply, due to the fact that 900 other bands are doing the same thing and getting the same (lack of) response.
This approach comes across like spam. It's not a wise use of your time. You should target people who are casual fans or "weak tie" connections, and do what you can to further deepen that connection. Make it personal.

4. Seek PR or management before you're ready

Many bands that are in their infancy stages seek me out regarding PR. They can't afford it, and they don't know what it entails or means. They don't have a manager to... manage expectations. But it's also because they aren't ready for these things. They've played maybe five shows. They don't have a release plan. The conversation usually trails off because there is a lot of hand-holding and consulting needed.
I tell them they need to focus on songs, the live show, and the local buzz. Once you have a solid system in place, then you're ready to seek out representation in the PR world and in the management world.

A Love Poem From Keybar Lordgreat to Mhiz BennyCute, NAIJAEVERYDAY (Photos)

 You're the one I can't live without
This fact is true, I have no doubt
I love the way you smile at me
I love the way together we're free
You may be strange and slightly loony
But all this means nothing to me
Because you are who you are
And I can see your beauty
Inside and out
Which is what threw me.

 When everyday I see you
Till then I cannot wait
To know what we will go through
Are in the hands of fate
The first time that I saw you
I knew I must steal your heart
I hope that it's mine for ever
And that we never do part.

You are the one I love the most
And to this here fact I propose a toast;
May we grow old and still have fun
Because I love you and my heart you've won.
Your lips so soft and red,
the thought of kissing you is stuck in my head.

You are the one I love the most
And to this here fact I propose a toast;
May we grow old and still have fun
Because I love you and my heart you've won.
Your lips so soft and red,
the thought of kissing you is stuck in my head.

Your beauty so bright and warm,
shinning through the darkest storm.
Your eyes sparkle like stars in the night sky.
When I stare into them I feel like I am soaring high.

Your beauty so bright and warm,
shinning through the darkest storm.
Your eyes sparkle like stars in the night sky.
When I stare into them I feel like I am soaring high.

My love for you is pure and true.
I never stop thinking of you.
The sound of your voice saying, "I love you," makes my heart pound,
because I know my one and only I've truly found.
I promise to love you for every moment of forever,
and when everything else crumbles, I will never.
I am your armor to protect you from harm,
like you are to me, a lucky charm.
For you are my heart, my soul.
Baby, you are my whole world.

I had walked through life with nothing until you, until you I knew no pleasure.
And then one day God sent you to me, to the eye so beautiful: you, my wife, my treasure.

A gift from God, a gift so fine that you can never be measured
A love so fine, so sweet, so kind, it's you, my love: you, my wife, my treasure.

I promise to hug and kiss and hold you each day.
I promise a love with devotion that will never ever fade away.

I promise and swear to God above
To show you nothing but my pure love

I will admire the blessing of your boundless love,
Because I know that you are a true gift from Heaven above.

I will not hurt you with my frustrations.
I will hold you close and kiss you with loving admiration.

I will always appreciate your commitment to me,
Give me a chance, for can't you see?

This is not a game of chance that we play.
It is true love that I swear is committed to stay.

You say that at times you are afraid
This one I can find no rhyme so let me be clear:
I will,
Love you endlessly
Devote my life to making you happy
Admire you each day for the person you are
Take interest in the things that you like to do
Admire your beauty daily in awe and reflect it back to you
Be attentive to you and you needs
Be forgiving
Listen to you with never a harsh word in return (I swear it and pray for it in God's name)
Show you by my actions that I love you
Be more open and fun to you, your family and friends
Never go to bed without you
Rub you, kiss you, bathe you, lift you up or whatever it takes when you are feeling down.

I will kiss you and love you all that I possibly can,
And don't be embarrassed to be seen holding my hand.

I will treasure each day as if it were our last,
And at the end of your life you won't regret me being your past.
You are the sunshine in my morning, and like a the bird I will sing you a song.
I know that in this life when I am troubled, through God it's you who keeps me strong.
You are the mother of my children and the air that gives me life,
My truest friend of all, my heart, my soul, my wife.
I love you very much; you are all that is good in this world.
