By Adeboye Amosu: Enyimba goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is relieved to ee
the team end their winless streak in the Nigeria Professional Football
League this season following Thursday’s 1-0 home win against Nasarawa
United, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Peoples Elephant went into the game sitting in the last position
in the table following two draws and a defeat from their opening three
games.
Stanley Dimgba’s 79th minute strike however ensured they picked
maximum points for the first time this season and also moved to the 15th
position in the table.
Dauda, a former Black Stars of Ghana goalkeeper, also tasked his teammates to build on the win in their subsequent games.
“Enyimba without doubt is the biggest club in Nigeria. To occupy last
position in the table is a bad thing for us and I’m happy with the win
against Nasarawa United,” Dauda told CSN.
“They (Nasarawa United) made things difficult for us and we are relieved to win for the first team this season.
“The most important thing for us now is to build on that in our
subsequent games and challenge for the title like we did last season. ”
Enyimba will face River United in their match day five fixture at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt on Monday.
